Trade shows and events

Las Vegas is a city that never sleeps. Almost continuously various entertainment events, trade fairs and major conventions are taking place throughout the city.

Although there are many hotels in the city, it is wise to book in advance, to ensure getting a the location and price you want. Especially if you are coming for a particular well attended event and want to be close to the action.

Travel to and in the city

Most visitors come to Las Vegas by car or plane. McCarran International Airport is just next to the city center. You can reach the city most easily by taxi. Some hotels offer airport shuttle buses.

There are local buses operating on "The Strip" and inside the city. Travel by monorail (above ground tram on a single track) can be very exciting. You can purchase 1-7 day passes for a very reasonable price.

During the hottest summer months you should avoid walking long distances.

It is also the possible to rent a car or limousine. Obviously this is a very convenient way to get around in, if your wallet allows. Many hotels will assist you with the booking of a car.

Weather and climate

Las Vegas is located in the Mojave Desert and has a typical desert climate with hot and dry summers and mild winters. The sun shines all year round and in summer the temperature can rise to over 40 degrees Celsius which is very important to think about when you are staying in Las Vegas. Be sure to protect yourself from the sun and drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration.

Price structure

The city is relatively expensive city to live in. The hotels have indeed often offer good prices, but everything else costs a bit extra - especially near the Las Vegas Strip. In addition, you are expected as a guest to tip in bars, in restaurants and in the hotel for good service.
